The Book “Inside the Revolution”

It is a fascinating book that talks of the Muslims in the Middle East who are partisans of the terrorist groups(Ben Laden, the terrorist Iranian government, etc), those who are for democracy (the Jeffersonians) and those who are ex-Muslims, and have become Christian. He has also made a video documentary of the book. Here is the trailer:

Meet Hormoz Shariat, Iranian Ex-Muslim

He is one of the people who appears in the book. He participated in the Islamic revolution of 1979 that brought Khomeini to power. Later he went to study in the US and eventually became a Christian. He now:

1.Has a daily TV channel in Persian that is watched by 7-9 million Iranians every day (about 10% of the 74 million Iranian population). In Iran 66% of people are under 30 and never knew the Shah’s regime, they have only known the theocratic, anti-human rights regime of today.

2.His programs never talk of Islam, Muhammad, the Koran. They just talk of Christianity and Jesus.

A Taste of the Persian Language

Here is a 1 1/2 min segment of one of Iran alive ministries TV shows, called “Coffee Talk”. It has no subtitles. The Persian language, by the way, is not related to Arabic or Hebrew but is Indo-European, being a sister tongue of Hindi, Sanskrit, English, German, French, Latin, Greek, Spanish.

Its most famous and celebrated writer is Hafiz (14th century),who wrote a lot of love poems, plus others are Firdausi (11th century),author of the “Book of Kings”(Shah-Nameh), a history of all the Iranian kings and Omar Khayam. One Persian word in English is “check-mate” from “shah mat”(the king is defeated).
